While studying there she worked as a ceramic lab assistant and student teacher. She used what she learned at school, workshops and production studios to create a unique line of white stoneware pottery. In 1987, Claire took her husband Bill. Using her experience from college and production studio work, she taught Bill production studio pottery. Bill now throws almost 100% of the pottery, leaving Claire to concentrate on hand painting her whimsical designs.
