A beautifully colored, scalloped, porcelain bowl that makes a stunning gift. This is piece is entirely handbuilt from colored porcelain. First the clay is colored by kneading powdered metallic oxides into it. Then as many as 40 or 50 different colors are formed into a patterned block of clay, which is sliced to create slabs. These are rolled out, cut and manipululated to form individual pieces, which are dried, fired, and glazed with a food-safe glaze, and refired to about 2200F. Each each is signed the artist.
